Our Heritage

Macadamias Australia is a division of Steinhardt Corporation.

The family business was founded in 1957 by Ron and Marion Steinhardt when they purchased their first farming property, an unimproved parcel of land and commenced growing a variety of crops including peanuts, corn, cotton, tobacco, sugar cane and vegetables.

The family business has grown from humble beginnings to currently being recognised as leaders and innovators in Australian agribusiness, demonstrating the family’s commitment to growing and processing food over generations.

In 1980, the family business moved into large scale production of tomatoes and zucchinis supplying the major supermarket chains throughout Australia and New Zealand, under the brand name Steinhardt Family Farms.

In 2003, the company introduced Macadamias – further diversifying the Steinhardt brand and today maintains over 130,000 trees and produces 2000 tonnes of macadamias, which are distributed both in Australia and throughout the world.

Macadamias Australia is one of Australia’s largest single variety plantations.
