Training is encouraged with a “hands on” or “on the job” approach and therefore all procedures are referred to during the training times. Annual assessment (or an induction for seasonal workers) is carried out on each staff member to evaluate the level they are at. This information is then worked into a personal and professional development plan, whereby staff can target areas that are required for advancement. Performance appraisal takes place after the assessment and then a discussion is held with the staff member to decide what goals need to be worked towards in the following six months.
